New Ports in Mexico Entail Procedural Adjustments
January 2, 2014

Roanoke Trade is pleased to announce an expansion of the ATA Carnet network in Mexico.

Since joining the ATA Carnet system in 2011, Mexico has processed thousands of Carnets for Commercial Samples, Exhibitions and Fairs, and Professional Equipment at select ports of entry. The success of the ATA Carnet in these pilot markets has now made the goal of nationwide acceptance a reality: in 2014, Mexican Customs is prepared to welcome its greatest number of Carnet imports yet.

Beginning January 2, 2014, ALL Customs ports of entry in Mexico will begin accepting ATA Carnets. Advance registration requirements have been slightly modified to accommodate the additional ports now authorized to handle Carnets. Please follow the instructions below to use the new advance registration form, and bookmark it in your browser to replace the previous “Carnets to Mexico” registration address you may have used in the past.

To successfully enter Mexico with your Carnet, please be aware of the following:

  1. Translation in Spanish of the general list is required.
  2. Carnets entering Mexico must be registered before arrival. Submit the registration form at: www.CarnetATAMexico.com.mx/ata
  3. For instructions on completing this form in English or Spanish, please click here.
  4. Mexican Customs approval may take 2-3 days.
  5. Mexican Customs will allow Carnets to remain in Mexico for six months.
  6. Goods must depart Mexico by the Final Date of Re-exportation on the importation counterfoil.

We hope you will enjoy the convenience and profitability of using Carnets in more parts of Mexico than ever before!

Sincerely,

Roanoke Trade, a division of Roanoke Insurance Group Inc.
